I have a folder with 26 files from an Excel 2007 backup. When I search in the Windows 11 Pro Explorer search bar for a word I know is in one of the files, I always get the message “no items match your search criteria.”
The file extension is .xlsx and the document type is “Office Open XLM"·
I’ve already tried all sorts of possible solutions (restarting the service, rebuilding the index, etc.) but nothing works. Is anyone else experiencing this? Any solutions?
The category is set to Docs, but it seems that you don’t use it actually. Which product is being used? Is it Desktop Editors? If so, please specify the version, whether Desktop Editors is associated with this filetype and from which source it was installed (EXE/MSI/online installer).
Hi Constantine,
Thanks for your reply. Right now OnlyOffice is uninstalled in my PC.
I have tried the online installer, the .msi installer and the .exe installer. I have associated the extensions in windows 11 configuration, but nothing works.
Now, i will wait for your advice in with installer should I use and which steps I must make to try to solve this issue. (To find what is inside of the spreadsheets that were created with micrsoft office 2007)
Best regards.
As far as I know, a search in files’ content is performed on system level. Have you tried enabling “File Contents” in “Search options” when doing a search via Explorer?
Yes, I’ve tried. As far as I know, I’ve tried everything.
It seems like Microsoft Windows 11 wants the browser search to only work with its software.
If you want, I can send you just an .xlsx file to see if you can test it on a Windows 11 system.
If you want me to send it to you, please tell me how to do it.
Talking to a friend who’s an expert in spreadsheets, he recommended that I create a workbook with the necessary sheets and then search within that workbook. And this is the only thing that has worked.
I’ve tried everything:
Checking and restarting the Windows Search Service
Ending and restarting the Windows Search process
Restarting the computer and checking for pending updates
Rebuilding the Windows Search index
Using the Search and Indexing Troubleshooter
Repairing system files with SFC and DISM
So the Windows 11 Pro Explorer bar works fine except for OnlyOffice. The same is true for LibreOffice.
I hope this helps other users with the same problem.
If you come up with another solution, or if you detect any compatibility issues between OnlyOffice and Windows 11 Pro, please let me know.
