I have imported a MS Word document which already had a watermark image embedded. I tried a couple of different ways to remove this watermark, but neither works. I easily removed it in MS Word and re-imported it which worked fine, but obviously is not ideal. Is this a known bug?
Hello @Don1
May I know how watermark was added to the document initially? Also, please specify version of Document Server in use.
Hi Constantine, I am unable to find where it states the version of Document Server, but since I only started using OnlyOffice about 3 weeks ago, I assume it is quire current? The document in question was originally created in MS Word (Office 365) about 6 months ago. Lmk if I can provide any additional information. Thanks, Don
Version of Document Server can be found in About tab on the left toolbar. I understand that the file was created in MS Word, but how did you add the watermark in the first place? Is it possible to share the document for review?
Thank you. It is V 9.0.4. The document was created in MS Word, and the watermark was inserted at the same time. I will provide the document.
This system informs me that “new users cannot upload attachments”. Is there an alternate method or address which I can send it to?
Please elaborate on how. Did you add it from Design tab? Was it automatically inserted?
You can upload the file to any cloud storage and provide a link.
OK, the document was created in MS Word for Mac V16.89.1 as a letterhead for a company, and then I added the watermark via Design, Watermark, Picture. Here is a link to the document:https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/t5avjv37flamthzrqvgqp/Letterhead-with-watermark.docx?rlkey=1dy8usgy5hpe5rqodf05jdv6s&st=18soivhi&dl=0
Thank you for the file. This watermark, I assume the image in the document is the watermark, is added into the header, just like any other app applies. To remove it you can simply go to Insert > Header & Footer and use option Remove header.
I am not talking about the header. There is a large watermark centered on the page.
This watermark is added to the document as an image placed and centered in the header of the document, named processor works with watermarks like that. To remove that you can simply double click the header, select image in the center and delete it.
Also, I have tried removing the watermark from the same attached document in MS Word from Layout > Watermark > Remove watermark and it did not succeed, at least the latest version of MSW.
OK, double-clicking the header region and then clicking the center image and deleting it works. But I will say that this center image was applied in MS Word using the Watermark feature, not the header feature. OnlyOffice has a Watermark feature as well, so I would expect that is how you would delete a watermark. It just doesn’t make sense to me that you would use the heder feature to delete something created with a watermark feature. Very non-intuitive. FUrther, I pulled up the original MS Word version in Word and was able to delete the watermark using the watermark delete feature.
What is the version?
As stated above - MS Word for Mac V16.89.1
Thank you. We need some time to analyze the file and find out wether this behavior is a bug or not. Please await my feedback.
I was informed that a bug was registered on this situation with “Remove watermark” actually does not remove watermark in attached document for further investigation. I will keep you posted about the updates.
