I am writing to you as a regular user of ONLYOFFICE, and I truly appreciate the clean interface and the collaborative features your platform provides. However, I would like to highlight a significant gap in the Find and Replace functionality when compared to Microsoft Word.
Currently, the “Replace” feature in ONLYOFFICE feels limited for power users and editors who handle complex document formatting. Specifically, the following features are missing:
Support for Wildcards: In Microsoft Word, the use of Wildcards (Special characters like *, ?, <>, []) allows for advanced searching of patterns rather than just static text. This is crucial for large-scale editing and data cleaning.
Special Formatting Support: The ability to find and replace based on Formatting (such as font style, color, or paragraph spacing) is currently missing.
Special Character Codes: Features like finding paragraph marks (^p), manual line breaks (^l), or any digit/letter codes are essential for professional document processing.
These tools are not just “extras”; they are fundamental for anyone transitioning from Microsoft Office who relies on automation to handle repetitive tasks. Adding Wildcard support and Format-based Replace would significantly bridge the gap and make ONLYOFFICE a much more powerful alternative.
I hope you consider these improvements in your upcoming updates. I believe these features would bring immense value to your professional user base.
