Style based on selection with left indent

I have a document where the normal text has an indent of left 3cm. When I insert a text from another doucment it looses this indent but.

• open a text with Normal style indeted left 3cm (was created in Microsoft word)
• insert a text, it gets style normal but no indent, selecting the style Normal also has no effect.

Things I tried:

1. Select the text that was correctly formatted and select Bijwerken op basis van selectie:
   
   
2. apply the style on the newly inserted text

Nothing happens. Is indent part of a style?

Styles can be applied to a text and to a paragraph. Idents are the part of the paragraph style.
