Strange problem with Regional Settings

Hi there,

I have this strange problem with Regional Settings in Safari on iPad OS.
When I open a spreadsheet, the setting under File > Advanced Settings > Regional Settings > Region, will be “English - United States” but I need it to be “Nederlands - Nederland”.
Upon selecting this, and hitting “Apply”, it is OK, for as long as I keep it open.
Next time I open the sheet, this setting is reverted back to “English - United States”.

I use two different environments, one laptop with Firefox and one ipad with Safari.
This only occurs on the ipad with Safari.

The value “Personal Info > Locale” in the nextcloud profile is set to “Dutch”.
I don’t know the nextcloud version (or how to check for that)
The onlyoffice version is 9.2.1.43 (found under File > Info > Spreadsheet info > Common > Application)
The ipad OS is 26.3.1

Does this ring a bell with anybody?

Hey @DeejaySane,

Thanks for the detailed description — I see you’ve already pointed out the most important part (ipad OS is 26.3.1 and onlyoffice version 9.2.1.43 )

To help us investigate this faster, could you please:

  • Share a sample .xlsx file where this issue occurs
  • Record a short video showing the exact steps

You can upload the file and video to ONLYOFFICE DocSpace, kDrive, or any file sharing service and drop the link here.
This would be extremely helpful for reproducing the problem on our side.
Thanks in advance!

Hi there @Nikolas
Thanks for your reply!

Upon creating a test spreadsheet and starting the record, I noticed that this time, the value for Regional Settings > Region was correctly set to “Nederlands - Nederland” (meaning “Dutch” in English)

So I fiddled around a bit and found this:

  • The spreadsheet that is causing the trouble is a shared spreadsheet from another user, let’s call him “B” and me “A”.
  • So, let’s check what happens when B logs in on the ipad, but we found that the same behavior is there (wrong regional settings, as described in this topic)
  • B’s “Region” setting under File > Advanced Settings > Regional Settings > Region was set to “Nederlands - Nederland” but the setting for “Formula Language” was set to “English”
  • If B changes the Formula Language to “Dutch”, the problem described seizes to exist (and this seems to be a global variable so it is solved for all spreadsheets)
  • The strange thing is thus, that B doesn’t have this problem described, it only occurs for A
  • There is one more thing that could be of importance; the Language setting in the Nextcloud environment for user A is set to “Dutch”, but for user B it is set to “English”
  • And user B really wants his formulas to be in English, but can live with this solution

Hopefully this makes sense.
If any more clarification is needed, I’m happy to give it!

Ah, after working perfectly for some time, it is now back to the old problem again … :frowning:

Fingers crossed, I think I found it.
The value “Personal Info > Locale” in the nextcloud profile was set to “Dutch”.
Now, I set it to “Dutch (Netherlands)”, yes, that’s a different value
It looks like that solved the problem.

(By the way, I also tested Firefox on the ipad but that did not solve the problem, so it is not browser related.)
