Hi,
Is there an option not to change the sleted cell after having pressed the enter key?
Similar to MSExcel:
Advanced options / Editiing Optons / After pressing enter, move selection
My app: version
ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors version 7.3.3.50
Thanks
Hello @Izno
Thank you for the suggestion.
It is already registered though not yet implemented, so at this moment there is way to change this behavior unfortunately.
Current Behavior: When editing a cell in the OnlyOffice Spreadsheet Editor and pressing the Enter key, the active cell automatically moves to the next cell below. This happens consistently across all versions (tested on Desktop Editors 9.3.1.8 on Ubuntu via Snap).
Desired Behavior: Add an option in File → Advanced Settings → Editing (or similar location) to disable this automatic movement. When disabled, pressing Enter should keep the cursor in the current cell, allowing users to:
- Validate cell content without changing selection
- Continue editing the same cell if needed
- Use Ctrl+Enter for line breaks within cells
Why This Matters: Many spreadsheet workflows require staying in the same cell after validation. This is a standard feature in Microsoft Excel (under File → Options → Advanced → Editing options → After pressing Enter, move selection). Users coming from Excel or working on data entry tasks find this limitation frustrating.
Proposed Solution: Add a checkbox in the Advanced Settings:
“After pressing Enter, move selection” (enabled by default for backward compatibility)
- When unchecked, Enter validates without moving
Platform Tested:
- OnlyOffice Desktop Editors 9.3.1.8 (x64 snap)
- Ubuntu Linux
Thanks
