Setting up OnlyOffice Workspace behind a reverse proxy (nginx)

Do you want to: Ask a how-to question

Type of installation of Workspace (docker, deb/rpm, exe, please point us to the installation guide that you used as well):
I set up OnlyOffice Workspace in Docker containers using the workspace-install.sh.

OS: Ubuntu 22.04.5 LTS
Browser version: Chrome/Firefox

Additional information:

Hi,
I am currently running OnlyOffice workspace on a server with some other applications as well. I’m aware of the recommendation by the OnlyOffice Dev Team to run it on a clean server by itself but that doesn’t seem like a possibility right now. So instead, I’m trying to set up a reverse proxy with a nginx container as well.

I have OnlyOffice running on port 8000 of the docker host ip and nginx on 80. I also added my nginx container to the onlyoffice docker network, to try and proxy_pass to http://onlyoffice-community-server:80. Tried looking for older posts and some users commented that they succeeded setting up the proxy, but never updated the post or explained.

Any ideas or tips would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hello @jun5lee

This is totally accurate. The point is to avoid dependencies and port conflicts.

As for the situation in general, sadly we don’t have ready-to-go config samples for Nginx in front of Workspace. However, you can start research with samples for standalone Document server: Using ONLYOFFICE Docs behind the proxy
