Additional information:
Impossible to select a cell in a spreadsheet which is close to an object : the object is selected instead. When I say close, I mean less than 4 cells away from the object box !
Turnaround : is it possible to move the selection box from the next cell, for instance, using keyboard ?
This is in addition to the fact that the object box itself is much bigger than the object.
Also : it is almost impossible to move or resize an object (doesn’t do anything, or alter the shape).
NOTE : all this using pen or finger.

To investigate and reproduce the issue, please share:
- A short screen recording showing the problem (incl. zoom level and how you tap with finger vs pen). If you face a size limit, then you can upload your video to any cloud storage and share a link to it.
- The spreadsheet file (.xlsx) where it happens.
- Also please confirm does it happen in every spreadsheet file or in special one?
As a temporary workaround: once you select any cell, you can use the navigation buttons on the bottom toolbar. There you’ll find Previous cell / Next cell (left/right arrows) — they let you move the active cell to adjacent cells without trying to tap near the object.

I don’t have a bottom toolbar… Is it normal ?
I have a top toolbar for editing.
On the bottom, I have the text insertion line, and below, the line with the sheet names.
That’s all I have. I didn’t find anything in the help about displaying a bottom toolbar (and their are always mentions about “top or bottom toolbar”).
If you don’t see this toolbar on your device, the best next step is a short screen recording: please reproduce the “selection between object and cells” behavior and also show the whole editor UI (top area + bottom area), so we can see the exact layout on your tablet and investigate properly.
If possible, please also attach the sample .xlsx file (or a minimal demo file) where the issue happens.

So, here is an example of impossibility to select cells around an object. With pen or finger.
Also with some shapes impossible to move, resize etc… (It was the case with all shapes before, but I uninstalled and reinstalled, and it got better).
Happens in every file.
No toolbar to move selection.
Also, another problem : the size of the pen is often ignored the first time.

I have many other strange behaviours :
- the red cross when inserting text is not working : does the same as the green tick (I have a video for that)
- the last edited file doesn’t appear in the “recent” (sometimes it does…)
- today, another behaviour : the bold texts don’t appear bolded anymore.

Thank you for the videos and the sample file — they really helped us understand what’s going on.
We’ve forwarded the issues with selecting cells near objects and with the pen/brush size being ignored on the first stroke to our developers for investigation. As soon as we have any updates, we’ll let you know in this thread.
Regarding the new issues you mentioned, could you please share a bit more details so we can reproduce them on our side (a short screen recording for each case would be ideal):
- Red cross when inserting text.
Please send a short video showing where exactly you see the green tick / red cross, what action you perform, and how the red cross behaves the same as the green tick. - Recent list not updating.
Please describe the exact steps: how you open the file, how you edit it, how you close it, and where you check “Recent”.
If possible, record a short video showing the full flow (open → edit → close → open Recent). - Bold text not displayed as bold anymore
Does it happen in all files or only in a specific one?
Please attach a sample file (if possible) and record a video showing the text, the Bold button state, and how the formatting looks before/after.

We have registered the issue with selecting a cell near an object as a bug in our internal tracker. We do not have an ETA for a fix yet, but we will post an update here as soon as we have any news.
As for the pen size issue, we are still trying to reproduce it on our side. Once we have more information from QA/developers, we will let you know in this thread as well.
We are also still waiting for the details on the other issues you mentioned earlier. When you have time, please send a short description and, ideally, a screen recording for each case, as this will help us reproduce the behavior and investigate it properly.
