Constantine has closed my topic as resolved. It is not resolved .
I am not the other person who has had similar problem .
Since some time anytime I open a document docx which was already created ,edited and changed several times it appears in read-only mode : “The file is read only. To keep your changes save a file with a new name or in a different location.”
It is really annoying. Every next day after restart of the computer is the same story. I have to save it by overwriting the old file.
Constantine’s a great guy and didn’t mean any offense by closing the topic — he was just trying to keep things tidy since it looked similar to another issue. Let’s keep the discussion in this related thread to stay organized: Files in read-only mode: why?.
To get started, could you share:
Your OS and version (e.g., exact Linux distro and release)?
The version of ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors you’re using (check in the app’s About section)?
The installation type (e.g., Snap, Flatpak, Deb, AppImage)?
A short video showing the issue (open a DOCX, show the read-only message, and your workflow). You can upload it to a service like Google Drive or kDrive and share the link.
Also, in the linked thread, the issue was caused by a hidden lock file from a system crash. Could you check if there’s a lock file in the folder with your DOCX (e.g., hidden files like ~$filename.docx or .lock)? Try moving the file to a new folder or renaming it, as suggested there, and let us know if it helps.
