Problem with codification after text edition

Hello,

I need to update a PDF and I have seen that OnlyOffice is able to do that. But I am facing the following problem:

I have a notification from the Spanish government and I intend to hide some sensible data. If I edit it (for example changing some numbers to ##) and I save it, it seems that it loses the original codification.

In the following screenshot you can check, in the left one, the original document, with its legible a well-structured text. Nevertheless, after saving it (right image), it’s like it has lost spanish accents (á, é, í, ó, ú…) and text spacing and/or size.

As I have said, it is a sensible .pdf document, so I’m not going to upload it to this forum.

Whatever you need to find a possible solution, feel free to ask me.

I’m using OnlyOffice Desktop Editors: Versión comunitaria 9.3.1.8 (x64 flatpak) on Fedora 44.

Thank you for the details. Since we cannot reproduce the issue on our side and you cannot share the original PDF, we need some additional information to investigate further.

Please send us:

  • a short screen recording showing the entire workflow: opening the PDF, editing the text, saving the file, and opening the saved result again (you can mask sensitive content or send the video to me via private message);
  • confirmation of whether this happens only with this specific PDF or with other PDF files as well;
  • if possible, a simplified anonymized sample PDF created from scratch, or another non-sensitive PDF where the same issue can be reproduced;
  • a full description of the actions you perform while editing.

With these details, we will be able to check the behavior more precisely.

Thank you again for the details and the sample files. We have registered this behavior as a bug in our internal tracker and passed it to the development team for further investigation. We do not have an exact ETA yet, but we will update this thread as soon as we have any news regarding the fix.
