Presentation editor : Spell checker language auto revert to the language of the document as soon as you add text

Hello

Sorry if this thread covers a subject already covered.
I checked but did not found something exactly like this.
In the presentation editor, I have this document:
Diaporama P1.pptx (1.0 MB)
The default language is French, however most of the texts are in English.
When you edit en existing text, as soon as you type one character, the spell checker language reverts to French.

Also, if you duplicate a textbox, the language setting is lost (so, for text en English, all words are considered as badly spelled).

This is a real pain and I hope it will be fixed soon.

Thanks.

Config : OO last version SNAP on linux Kubuntu

Also :

Whereas the textbox is set to be in English, “is” is detected as a spelling mistake !
Selecting the textbox and setting it to English does not work, you have to select the text and apply the change.

Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaassse fix it  !

Perhaps related to this bug BUG: Spell-checker language falls back to the one in the previous document - with video - #3 by Nikolas

@arcqus - could you have a quick look at this bug description and workaround and check whether this applies to your case too?

Hello

Well done !

Yes, the bug is directly linked to the keyboard layout.
However, changing it is not really a workaround as using an english layout on a french (i.e AZERTY) keyboard is still a pain.

So please OO, fix this quickly, with the other dictionary issues (such a basic functionality should not be an issue in a version 9 of a product :frowning: ).

After giving second toughs, I think issues are linked but not the same : see my second post : while English is the language for the box, english words are considered as baldy spelled.

Hey @arcqus,

Big thanks for sharing the second video! I’m still struggling a bit to reproduce the issue with the underlined text error you’re seeing.

Could you please share the file where this issue occurs so we can analyze it? That’d really help us dig into what’s going on. Also, I’d be grateful if you could record a quick video showing how you input the text and switch languages to trigger this error (with the underlining).

Once we have those, I’ll follow up with a detailed explanation of how things work on our end. Appreciate your help! :hugs:

Hi Nikolas

Actually, the file is in my first message, if I’m not wrong.

Regarding the way I input text, actually I just copy textboxes and start typing text:

Hey @arcqus ,

We’re reviewing this case together with your report here: BUG: Spell-checker language falls back to the one in the previous document. As soon as we have any updates, we’ll let you know in this thread.

Thanks for your patience!
