I have a problem with a pdf file with fields to fill not created with onlyoffice.
The web pdf editor does not recognize it as a form.
I don’t know if it’s a bug or an editor limitation.
How does the editor decide whether a PDF is a form or not
Version: 8.2.2. Build: 22
Hello @mbrmrc
Can you share the file for analysis? Also, please describe how do you open it, for instance, from the integrated test example, from any ready-to-go solutions or from your own application.

hi constantine
Attached is an example PDF.
When I open it in the online editor in fillForms mode
it is not recognized as a form and the form tab and submit button are not displayed.
The integration with onlyoffice is with own application
Hello @mbrmrc
If you don’t mind, I will step into this thread as well.
Do I understand it right that you created the provided file in another editor? If you are going to use the forms filling feature, please try to re-create the file in our editor and double-check the result.
Alternatively, you can use ‘download as’'save as’ features to save the file after filling out.
This is really frustrating. I created a PDF file using Only Office, but I edited one part in Adobe Acrobat, and now it refuses to open in OnlyOffice in the full editing mode. It’s like some crippled pdf now that I can’t change any of the tables I used to space things out or anything. There should be a way to force it top open as a PDF form.
Oh, yay! I made a backup which was mostly the same as the version before I opened it in Acrobat. I now remember why I opened it in Acrobat to begin with. There were a few text fields that I added for signatures that I couldn’t move, delete or otherwise edit, so I tried opening with Acrobat which did allow me to delete them, but once I saved the file in Acrobat, I lost the ability for it to be recognized as a Form by Only Office. Thankfully I realized the problem was that I had accidentally locked the text field. Unlocking it allowed me to edit them again. lol.
So for anyone else wanting full PDF editing functionality, don’t ever save an OnlyOffice PDF in Acrobat, otherwise you’ll lose the extra editing functionality.
Hello @TorQueMoD
Please accept our sincere apologies for the situation. We’re working to improve PDF editor constantly to achieve better compatibility. In this scenario a PDF file created in our editor and then re-saved in a third-party app might indeed be recognized as a file created in Acrobat.
No worries. I thankfully made a backup just before making the adjustments, so I didn’t lose much. I never really thought to backup a pdf file before as I always assumed it was a universally forward and backwards compatible format like jpeg, png etc., but count on Adobe for making that not be true. I definitely blame them, and not you guys. Only Office is fantastic, honestly!
