We just hit an incredible bug… we are able to reproduce it on any macOS version we tried (from 10.3.x to 14.8.x, on both Intel and Apple Silicon): the current 9.2.1 version of ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors open files which the user has only read-only access to as if they were writable, let the user modify and save them without prompting any error, but obviously the files remain unchanged, making users loose their work! :S
The same OO version for Windows behaves correctly. We have not tested older OO versions yet.
Wow, I just tried these versions of Desktop Editors on macOS:
9.1.0
9.0.4
8.3.3
And all of them have this behavior too! It’s crazy that we didn’t notice this problem before! :S
Just to be clear, if you want to reproduce the issue: change the permissions on a file which you saved on a local macOS partition (HFS+ or APFS) in order to have read-only access to it, and then try to edit and save it.
QA has confirmed bug in this behavior. It is registered in our internal bug-tracker under the number 59995. We are already working on the solution. I will keep you posted on the news.
We have just released new version 9.4 of Desktop Editor that brings the fix to the issue discussed in this topic. Please update the app and check the situation again.
