OnlyOffice Desktop Editors : copy a sheet

Hello,

When copying a sheet from a multi-sheet workbook to a new workbook, the entire workbook is copied, not just the selected sheet.

Thank you.

Hello Fatima,

With the Desktop version 9.4.0.129 on Windows 11, I am experiencing the same issue as you when copying a sheet from a workbook and creating a new workbook "on the fly" (i.e., one that doesn't exist yet).
However, if I create a new workbook beforehand and then export a sheet from a multi-sheet workbook, there is no problem.
I believe this is a bug in this version of OO.

Additionally, I ran a test using Infomaniak's Ksuite:
- It is not possible to create a workbook "on the fly" when copying a sheet from a multi-sheet workbook.
- There are no issues if the workbook is created beforehand.
I hope this helps clarify things.
Patrick

Bonjour Fatima

Hello Pop,
Thank you very much for the feedback.
It does indeed work when the new workbook is created beforehand.

Hello Fatima.

That is strange !

I’ve just run some more tests using several workbooks—some created in Excel and others in OO—including sheets linked to other sheets. Each time, I observe the same thing as before.

Have you tried using a workbook with very little data (just some text and a few numbers, for example)? If the problem persists, what version of OO and what operating system are you using?

Hi Pop,

We are currently using Microsoft and are looking to switch to OnlyOffice.
We are using OnlyOffice desktop editors Version Community 9.4.0.129 (x64 msi).
Some staff members work with Excel files containing over 210,000 rows and using PivotTables, but with OnlyOffice, this causes the application to crash.

Hi

I ran further tests using a workbook created in Excel 2021 containing 12 data sheets (500 rows by 80 columns) with both internal and external links; the results were the same (though I did experience a non-fatal crash during one of the six copy attempts).
I don’t have files as large as the ones at your company. Have you tried with smaller files ?

I’m afraid I can’t offer any further insight!

I am also a long-time Microsoft user and would like to switch to open-source software for my work with non-profits. I’ve been experimenting with LibreOffice and OnlyOffice but am not yet satisfied with the spreadsheet applications due to significant limitations—such as macro conversion, conditional formatting, missing features, cell group formatting, custom functions, and so on.

I’m eagerly awaiting the upcoming autumn releases…:crossed_fingers:

I’ll keep an eye on this thread to see if I can make sense of it all.

Hi @Fatima,

Thank you for the report. This is a known bug — we are already working on a fix. You can also follow a related thread here: Copy 1 sheet in a new spreadsheet

We will update once it is resolved.
