[N] Crash when opening ppt with embedded videos

Do you want to: Report a bug
OS version: Fedora 41
App version: versió 9.0.0.172 (rpm)
Downloaded from: ONLYOFFICE official repository. Installing ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors on Red Hat, CentOS and derivatives
Additional information:

I have a problem when opening a ppt file. It contains several embedded videos. Once starting a video, the app crashes. I can share the file if it remains private.

Thanks

Hello @therm,
Yes, please share the file via PM

The file has been received, thank you. Does the app crash occur no matter what video is played? Please describe the issue reproduction steps in more detail

I tested the first 3 vídeos (first 3 pages), and it occurs the same: starting the video turns the region of the video rectangle to black, and after 1-2s teh app crashes.

Please update to the recent 9.0.3 version and check if the issue is reproduced

Updated to 9.0.3-29.el7 (9.0.3.29), but still failing.

Hello, we are currently checking, please wait

Hello, I have the exact same problem

Hello,
Please provide the original file as well.
We weren’t able to reproduce the issue on our side, please provide the output of the following commands: neofetch and fastfetch commands
It could be that the reason for the issue is that the needed system codecs are not installed

Hi, this is the output:

Let me know how to check if the codecs are installed, but exporting the ppt to pdf, I can properly watch the videos

Got it, thank you, we are continuing the analysis

We still haven’t been able to reproduce this problem on our side. Does this video from the ppt file work if launched from other video players installed in the system? (in VLC, for example)
It seems to be a codec-related issue.
Please try the following:

  1. Connect RPM Fusion:
Enabling the RPM Fusion repositories :: Fedora Docs
  2. Install codecs:
sudo dnf install gstreamer1-plugins-bad gstreamer1-plugins-ugly gstreamer1-libav
sudo dnf install gstreamer1-plugins-{bad-*,ugly-*} gstreamer1-libav --exclude=gstreamer1-plugins-bad-free-devel
sudo dnf install ffmpeg

Unzipping the pptx and openint the media filws with VLC, works without any issue. Also, I already have ffmpeg-7.1.1-6.fc41.x86_64 and gstreamer1-plugin-libav-1.24.13-1.fc41.x86_64 installed. Is tehre any way to retrieve the crash logs with more detail?

Please try running the Editor in debug mode (Running in debug mode on Linux | ONLYOFFICE) and reproduce the issue once again. Share a screenshot of the error, if any.
Also, please check the journalctl --since "3 minutes ago" logs and send us any relevant information, if available

I’ve updapted the app to 9.0.4-50.el7.

It throws an error when executing the debug:

This application failed to start because it could not find or load the Qt platform plugin "xcb"
in "".

Available platform plugins are: eglfs, linuxfb, minimal, minimalegl, offscreen, vnc, xcb.

Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.
Aborted (core dumped)

Newest journalctl logs:
test.log (112.4 KB)

Please try installing both gstreamer1-libav and gstreamer1-plugins-good/bad/ugly as they are not the same as gstreamer1-plugin-libav-1.24.13-1.fc41.x86_64.
As for the newly provided info, do you mean that now the app is not launching at all?

Not in debug, but it works properly when executed normally.

Which exact packages I should have to install? gstreamer1-plugins-good-1.24.13-1.fc41.x86_64, gstreamer1-plugins-bad-free-1.24.13-1.fc41.x86_64, and gstreamer1-plugins-ugly are already installed.

Please create a separate topic for this new issue with Desktop Editors not working in debug mode.
Got it - all three of them are actually installed now. As for the initial issue, we are continuing the analysis.

Hey @therm,

I’m picking up the investigation from DmitriiV. We’re still analyzing the crash issue with embedded videos in PPT files on OO Desktop Editors. We’ll keep you posted as soon as we have any updates.
