OS version: macOS 26
App version: 9.2.1
Downloaded from: ONLYOFFICE website
Description:
On macOS, closing the last open document window causes ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors to fully quit (the application terminates and the Dock indicator disappears).
This behaviour is inconsistent with standard macOS application lifecycle conventions.
In most native macOS applications:
• Closing the last window does not quit the application
• The app remains active in the menu bar and Dock
• The user explicitly quits via Cmd+Q
ONLYOFFICE currently quits when the final window is closed, which makes the app feel non-native on macOS and inconsistent with user expectations.
I’d love a preference to toggle this behaviour on macOS.
Expected behaviour:
Closing the last window should leave the application running, with the Dock indicator visible, until the user explicitly chooses Quit (Cmd+Q).
Or include a preference so users can change this behaviour.
Why this matters:
This affects workflow consistency on macOS and breaks long-standing platform UI conventions. It makes the app feel Windows-centric rather than properly adapted to macOS behaviour.
I like the way macOS keeps things open because that means documents will open faster while the app is still running in the background.
