Languagetool as online spelling tool for OnlyOffice - web and desktop

The idea of integrating Languagetool as plugin is good. Yet, having it as real online spelling tool would be a great benefit for both - the web office and for the desktop editors. While writing this suggestion in the text box, LanguageTool proofreads what I am writing. £

See the blue hook in the attached screenshot.

The integration would be really great, as Languagetool replaced the spell check in MS365 I used before and also in Pages in macOS. In addition, beside spell checking, this tool helps in rephrasing sentences. Great for reports etc.

A combination of ONLYOFFICE and LanguageTool, also in the community edition, would be a big hit.

Hello @Emil

Can you provide more information on that for the reference? If I understand correctly, in named processors Languagetool works differently and you suggest implementing similar functionality.

Hello Constantine,

of course. LanguageTool resides in the right lower corner of the programs.

I attached a PDF with screenshots of Apple Pages and MS Word, LanguageTool acting as online or direct spell and grammar check.

Thanks for the references. Is there a documentation on how to install the plugin to any of these processors?

The plugins are activated in the LanguageTool settings. If the macOS desktop App is installed, one can activate/deactivate the corresponding plugin, see attached screenshot.

More on the integration of LanguageTool in applications is described on the LanguageTool homepage: Free AI Grammar Checker - LanguageTool

So it is not a plugin for an app exactly, but a stand-alone desktop application. In that case it seems that the vendor of LanguageTool Desktop adds support for various application to work with. I’m afraid we cannot implement a support for a desktop app that is maintained by another team.

By the way, for ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors regular LanguageTool plugin is available:

Thank you very much for the reply.

I know the OnlyOffice LanguageTool plugin. Yet, it is not as handy as the once I described.

I suggest, that OnlyOffice may get in touch with LanguageTool to discuss the support, as LanguageTool does with LibreOffice (LanguageTool, votre correcteur d’orthographe pour LibreOffice)

We’ll discuss your suggestion internally. Please await my reply.
