Mount the same smb share to a computer running linux using gvfs/gio mount (Manjaro Cinnamon in my case)
Create a xlsx file on the windows computer with MS Excel or OnlyOffice DesktopEditors
Save the file to the smb share and exit the program
Open the file in OnlyOffice DesktopEditors on linux
Make a small change, save and exit
Open the file again on Windows with MS Excel
Excel will tell you the file is corrupted and has to be repaired, after repair the changes you made are gone
further tests:
To change the file via OnlyOffice DesktopEditors on Windows doesn’t provoke Excel to repair the file
To change the file with desktopEditors on linux, save it somewhere else and move the file to the smb share via drag and drop doesn’t provoke Excel to repair the file.
To change the file with DesktopEditors on linux, select ‘Save as’, search the full path to the smb share (“/run/user/1000/gvfs/…” instead of “smb://…”) and save the file won’t provoke Excel to repair the file

Hello, thank you for the detailed report!
Since you’re currently on 9.2.1, please update ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors to version 9.3 on both Windows and Linux and re-check the same scenario.
If the issue still reproduces after the update, please record a short screen video showing the full reproduction flow. If you face a size limit, then you can upload your video to any cloud storage and share a link to it.
Hi, thank you for the video and the additional details.
We’ve checked this scenario with our QA team and confirmed that it’s a known issue on our side, so we’ve added your report to the existing bug in our internal tracker.
At the moment, we don’t have an exact ETA for the fix, but we’ll post an update in this thread as soon as we have any news.
To give you an update: Using the same setup with updated components (OnlyOffice DekstopEditors 9.3.1.8) changes in files on smb shares mounted via gio mount aren’t saved at all, now.
