Hello OnlyOffice team,
I recently switched from Microsoft Office 365 to OnlyOffice and would like to share the most important features I miss in the Presentation Editor.
I work in a branding agency that creates brand books and presentation templates for corporate clients. We design templates that employees of our clients can easily use. Recently, we have received several requests to develop templates specifically for OnlyOffice. That’s why we started working more actively with your office suite. I’m writing this not only on my own behalf, but also on behalf of the companies we work with.
Here are the features that create the most discomfort during daily work:
- Keyboard shortcut to start slideshow from the current slide In PowerPoint, this is done with Shift + F5. In OnlyOffice, I can only start the presentation from the current slide by right-clicking the slide and selecting “Start slideshow” from the context menu. When you work with many presentations every day, this becomes very inconvenient. The functionality already exists — it would be great to simply add a keyboard shortcut (preferably Shift + F5 to keep it familiar for users switching from Microsoft Office).
- Ability to group slides This is especially needed when working with large presentations (50+ slides). Grouping allows us to logically organize sections, quickly collapse/expand them, and navigate much faster. This feature is heavily used in PowerPoint when creating complex structured presentations and templates. Its absence in OnlyOffice significantly slows down our workflow.
- Custom Quick Access Toolbar (customizable icons in the top menu) It would be very convenient to have the ability to add frequently used commands to a customizable toolbar at the very top of the window, similar to the Quick Access Toolbar in Microsoft Office. OnlyOffice has quite a large default interface scale, so being able to hide the main ribbon and keep only the most needed icons would give significantly more workspace for slide design.
These were the first notable inconveniences we encountered after switching to OnlyOffice. As we continue working with the suite, I will create additional feature requests if other important gaps appear.
I also miss some slide transitions, but I saw that their number will be expanded in version 9.4, which is great.
Thank you for your great work and for developing a strong alternative to Microsoft Office. I hope these suggestions will be considered. I’m ready to provide more details or examples if needed.
Best regards,
Volodymyr Golembivs’kyi
