Email / SMTP not working

Hello OnlyOffice Team,

Our small team has been happily working with OnlyOffice Workspace Community Edition for years. I keep all modules up to date.

Main OS: Windows Server 2019 Standard

Control Panel: 3.5.434
Community Server: 12.7.1304
Document Server: 9.1.0.168
Mail Server: Not configured
XMPP Server: Not configured

We’ve been having trouble sending emails for the past week. We use the Yandex free tier for email services. During this period, there was an update to Yandex MX records. However, this didn’t affect the IMAP and SMTP servers. We continue to communicate via email in other applications.

Currently:

  • We can’t receive emails (or send them either) with our existing email accounts.
  • We can’t send test emails on the SMTP server login page.
    → The error message:
A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond 77.88.21.158:465
  • We can’t add a new email account.

→ The error message displayed in the Advanced section is:
SMTP response: The operation has timed out.
or
Smtp.ConnectAsync timeout

→ If the password is entered incorrectly, the error message
IMAP response: LOGIN invalid credentials or IMAP is disabled sc=4wZuUf2KhW20_2025-11-16-19-58_imap-production-main-679" is displayed, along with the SMTP timeout error.

→ Attempting to register an account via POP3 or IMAP does not work.
→ Entering a simple password or creating an application password does not change the results. (OAuth2 is not supported in OnlyOffice, or I don’t know how.)

  • The ports that OnlyOffice may need (25, 465, 143, 993, 110, 995, 587) are open on the firewall.
  • My tests with the firewall disabled failed.

Can you suggest any other things I can check?

Thank you.

Hey @koksal.basar,

Thanks for the very detailed report! I’ll take a look at the SMTP/IMAP timeout issue with Yandex as soon as I have a moment and will get back to you with some checks or a possible solution.

In the meantime, if anything else comes to your mind — feel free to add it.

Appreciate your patience!
