Yes, I want to suggest a feature. I can see that its possible to delete and add pages into a PDF file. But it would be nice o be able to re-order the pages, eg by clicking and dragging the page in the left view, where the list of pages is shown as thumbnails.
Hello @Adrian
You can drag the pages from the left menu after activating editing mode in PDF editor. All details are available in the following article: Editing PDF
Thanks for the link to the PDF editor documentation. Useful to have.
But I set up editing mode on an existing PDF document, and opened the left panel where the page thumbnails are displayed. Right clicking with the mouse shows the expected Insert/Rotate/Delete menu. But left clicking on a thumbnail only selects and displays the selected page in the main editing window. Dragging and dropping with the mouse does not appear to do anything, neither do the Shift or Ctrl keys allow to select multiple pages.
I must be be missing something simple, but cant see what.
Program version is Windows for PC version 8.1.1.27 x64
Ah! I see. You have to open the pdf in OnlyOffice, then print it from there to a pdf file, and then you can edit that file in the pdf editor. Just opening a pdf file from another source does not seem to work, even on an unprotected file with editing rights. Even if I create a new file with Open Office document editor, save it as a pdf, and then open it with OpenOffice PDF, I cant move pages around.
Please note that you are using outdated version of Desktop Editors. I recommend updating the app and checking the situation again, because I did not face such issue with any PDF files.
Hi Constantine, yes, I noticed I was using an outdated version several days ago. Updated a couple of days ago to version 9.2.1.43
I find that on some pdf files I can select and move pages around, others dont allow it at all. Havent traced exactly what files do this yet, still playing around, but thanks for the input. Will see if I can nail it down, but its nice to know the facility does work.
Can you share a PDF sample that does not allow moving pages for an analysis?
Here is a document created with OnlyOffice Docx text editor, just 3 pages with a line each. Saved as a pdf and opened in the PdfForm editor. I see the 3 pages ok, but cannot see the page list down in the left area where the page thumbnail icon usually shows. And without the page thumbnails showing, there is no way of re-ordering the pages.
I opened the same pdf in Foxit pdf reader, and that shows the thumbnails correctly, you cant edit them in this reader, but at least it does show the pages as thumbnails.
I tried to attach the .pdf, but get a message saying new users cannot upload attachments. Thats not much use.
