Is there any documentation or steps on installing to multiple windows computer using group policy and configuring options like updating and file extensions? Is there an article or suggeted steps in updating desktop editors via a gpo?
For feature suggestions, describe the result you would like to achieve in detail.
For bug reports, provide the steps to reproduce and if possible a minimal demo of the problem.

Hey @pitrebrian

Thanks for your question!

Unfortunately, we currently don’t have official documentation for installing ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors on multiple Windows machines using Group Policy, or for configuring settings like updates and file associations via GPO.

If you happen to implement such a deployment, we would greatly appreciate it if you could share your solution with the community — this topic is likely to come up again for others.

I’ll also check internally with our team to see if anything like this is planned for the near future.

In the meantime, here’s an example of a silent installation with file associations disabled:

DesktopEditors_x64.msi /quiet /qn REGISTER_NONE=1

Let us know if you have further questions!

Thank you for the reply. If there was at least a way to set the program to auto update (with a command) that would greatly help. I will dig in and see what I can discover.

*UPDATE

From installing manually and pushing via GPO, I have made some discoveries…

Both installs look to ask for file association option on first start and clicking yes works pretty well. Sometime may still get second prompt when opening certain file types (my case was word), but this product is suggested in pop up and click always, sets solid. This can be hit and miss. Now if I find file types fighting, like PDF and prefereing say adobe reader as default, this will take more granular steps, and the registry option is probably the method.

Regarding Updating. (the more important part for me)

It appears when deployed via GPO the update process is not available in the app settings or in the about section and thus requires updates to be re pushed via GPO (this is good).

When installed manually, update choices are available within the app settings and the about section to manually check.

Other items for control needs I have not identified as of yet.

Thank you,

Brian
