Custom fonts are not imported when opening .pptx files

Imported from UserVoice

Author: RW

Opening .pptx files in ONLYOFFICE Documents Editor will not import fonts that are not installed to the system, breaking some slideshows that use custom text (which is extremely common). Since fonts are not easily extracted from .pptx files by the average user, this compatibility feature is important for a productive and pleasant user experience.

Additionally, embedding fonts into MS-Office Suite Compatible file extensions is necessary for complete compatibility for such files (.pptx, .docx, etc).

Hello! Thanks for the suggestion β€” our team is already working on adding font embedding support for presentation files (track number β€” 69648). We’ll update the thread once it’s available.

Thanks Nurullo,

We are also actively integrating with the OnlyOffice. Is there a workaround till this is fixed by your development team. e.g. Us integrating relevant fonts on the self hosted instances?

Please let us know.

Hi @gupta,

Yes β€” on self-hosted instances you can install the fonts directly on the Document Server host, then regenerate the font cache. DS will pick them up when opening the .pptx.

Steps per install type: Adding fonts to ONLYOFFICE Docs Community Edition on Linux

Just note this only covers instances you control β€” the proper fix (embedding fonts into the file itself) is still tracked under 69648.
