Bug report, presumably applies to paid and unpaid licenses: Scrolling sideways in spreadsheet desktop app (linux and windows) is scrolling not just sideways, but also vertically, so in effect, scrolling diagonally.
to further clarify:
expected behaviour: scrolling horizonlly with either a mouse on a secondary scroll wheel or on touchpad with two fingers are expected to scroll the spreadsheet horizontally, as it works with no issues scrolling vertically.
observed: spreadsheet scrolls diagonally.
OS version: win 10 as well as ubuntu 20.04
App version: ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors version 7.2.1.36
Downloaded from: ONLYOFFICE website for win 10 / SNAP for ubuntu 20.04
I am very sorry for being missing for quite a while.
It took some time to dive into the issue and as a result we have created bug report number 60423 in our internal tracker. Unfortunately, we do not have estimated date of the fix release for now.
Apologies for the inconvenience caused.
Hi, I just want to append that this issue also affects your onlyoffice Docker Document Server connected to nextcloud. Thanks for registering the bug, look forward to be able to scroll horizontally.
The same problem applies to TrackPoint. Instead of horizontal scrolling, the table scrolls diagonally. Vertical scrolling works as expected. This problem was not noticed in text documents and presentations.
Hi everyone,
Just wanted to bump this thread because the issue is still present, even in OnlyOffice version 9.
This was first reported back in 2022 with version 7, and here we are in 2025, version 9, still no horizontal mouse wheel support. I’ve been checking every release with hope that it might finally be addressed, but no luck so far.
To be honest, this kind of issue feels a bit surprising today. We’re not dealing with an obscure or unusual feature, the mouse is a standard input device. Also, I don’t think, developers need to code the mouse behavior nowadays, I imagine they rely on the underlying OS and driver support for this, rather than having to manually implement handling for every mouse model or input type. Horizontal scroll support isn’t something that usually requires complex or custom solutions, especially with how mature and standardized input APIs are today.
That’s why it’s hard to understand why this still isn’t working in OnlyOffice after several major versions.
It might seem like a small thing, but details like this can leave a strong impression. When something as basic as mouse behavior doesn’t work as expected, it can make the whole application feel less polished. Imagine a team testing OnlyOffice as an alternative to Excel, one of the first things they might notice is, “Hey, even the mouse doesn’t scroll properly.” And that can quickly shape their overall perception of the software.
Thanks for all the hard work, and don’t get me wrong, OnlyOffice is a very good application and I really want to keep using it.
Just hoping those small (but annoying) issues can finally get addressed.
Keep it up!
You are mentioning mouse in your comment – please note that this topic is related to the touchpad/trackpad as input device, the issue with this type of input has been fixed.
Hi Constantine,
thanks for the very quick reply!
I didn’t notice this discussion was related to the touchpad.
I have a Logitech MX Master 3, it has a normal vertical scrolling wheel and a horizontal one.
The horizontal doesn’t work properly.
I use mainly the Spreadsheet app and using the horizontal wheel usually doesn’t do anything. Sometime it just scroll left 2 or 3 columns but then stop working totally.
I noticed that if I open a PDF in a separate OpenOffice tab the horizontal scroll wheel magically starts to work also in the spreadsheet!
Should I open a new bug report considering that it seems to be a different issue?
