[Bug] Can’t use emoji on Mac OS

When I want to insert or paste an emoji in Doc, Sheet or Presentation, it insert an empty square like this : □ instead of the expected emoji. Of course, emoji work fine on all other installed apps. I also noticed the Apple color emoji font is not listed in the fonts list while it’s installed and working on my Mac.

OS version: Mac OS Mojave 10.14.6

Hi @Alexandre,

More than one year later, I’m now running OnlyOffice 7.3.3 (538) - Apple Silicon on Mac OS Monterey 12.6.5 (MacBook Air M1) and this bug is still there. :slightly_frowning_face:

Hello @Kroc
Sorry for the length of the situation. We’re still working on it. I will update this thread when we have something to share.

Hello,

I am also seeing this issue, but not just on MacOS, in OnlyOffice Cloud and on Linux as well. It seems to work more consistently on Windows. Here is an example spreadsheet with a bunch of food emoji’s that just show up as question marks.

Hello @qualm
we have added your request to the mentioned bug for the desktop app. Unfortunately, we’re still working on it.
However, we haven’t found any issues using DocSpace Cloud on macOS, the emojis render normally. Please provide us with details on this scenario, if it’s possible, make screenshot or video file and specify the exact cloud product from your test.

This issue still persists; emoji aren’t being recognized correctly.

Hello @brodudeie
Yes, we are still working on it. I will update this thread once we have something to share.
Please accept our apologies for the length of the situation.

3 years after the first report and the problem has still not been solved

Dear @Benutzer
Please accept our apologies for the length of the situation. We will update this thread once we have something to share.

Really, it takes 3+ years to add support for emojis? This with all the other weird choices and lack of features makes me question my choice for moving all my google docs to nextcloud+onlyoffice.

Thank you for you feedback @petervanwesten
We’re doing our best to implement it as soon as possible, and we will update this thread once we have any news to share.
