Android spreadsheet protection problems

ONLYOFFICE Mobile: Documents / Projects / Web Editors
OnlyOffice version 9.3 - spreadsheet

Android version 16

I have installed the app on two Android phones and one tablet and I am running into the same problem on all three. I hope someone can point me in the right direction.

If I open the supplied sample spreadsheet and select a row header I see a pop-up menu with: Cut, Copy, Paste, Edit, Clear, Hide, Show, Add comment

There is no option to delete or insert a row.

I discovered that if I go to the menu then Protection > Protect Sheet then check Insert Rows and Delete Rows, then tap on the tick at the top to protect the worksheet I now only have two options in the pop-up menu. Next I go back to the Protection page in the menu and tap Unprotect. Now when I tap on a row header I see Delete and Insert Above as additional options. This only works if I protect and unprotect the worksheet.

Next I created a very simple spreadsheet and had to go through the same complex process just to remove rows or insert rows. The same is true of columns.

Things get worse when I try to edit a spreadsheet (either ODS or XLSX format) created on my Windows-11 laptop and copied to the Documents folder on the phone or tablet - no cloud server involved. Most were created with LibreOffice. Now there is no Protection page in the menu and I can’t add or remove anything. I have never protected any of my spreadsheets - they’re just for my use.

It may not be relevant, but I noticed that acccording to the spreadsheet info on the menu, there is no modification date (it says 01/01/1970 01:00 - I believe that’s the UNIX start date).

Am I missing something obvious?

Thanks

Hello,

Thank you very much for your detailed report and for describing the steps you took.

We’re aware of this issue in the Android version of our spreadsheet editor, and it has already been fixed on our side. The fix will be included in the upcoming version 9.4 of the ONLYOFFICE Documents app for Android.

Once version 9.4 is released, we will update this thread so that you can re-check the behavior on the new build.

Thanks Marix. I shall look forward to v9.4

Best regards

Hello,

We’d like to let you know that ONLYOFFICE Documents for Android has been updated, and version 9.4.0 is now available in the stores. This version includes the fix for the issue with missing Insert/Delete row/column options in spreadsheet context menus.

Please update the app to the latest version and check if inserting and deleting rows/columns now works correctly for your spreadsheets.
