Add a new oc-es spell checker

Hello everyone,

I would like to collaborate on the project and add a new spell checker in Aranese (Occitan, Spanish variant oc-es).
https://www.occitans.com/archivos/programas/source_code_last_version.zip

The first problem I’ve encountered is that this language doesn’t appear in the list.

Aranese is in the new list of LCD codes:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/openspecs/windows_protocols/ms-lcid/70feba9f-294e-491e-b6eb-56532684c37f

The code is 0x1000. I understand it’s a code that can be used temporarily in the document to define the paragraph language, but when I save the document, the language isn’t saved. In LibreOffice, I can define the paragraph as Aranese, and when I save the document, the language settings aren’t saved. In this case, since the language doesn’t appear, I don’t have the option to add the dictionary.

Thanks.

Hello @javierde22
Do I understand it right that you suggest adding spellchecking support for Aranese? It’s not clear how you added dictionary to the desktop editor. Could you please clarify it?
If I misunderstood the request, please clarify it.

Yes, that’s correct.

I’d like to add support for the Aranese dictionary, but I don’t know how.

Hello @javierde22
Thank you, we are checking the situation. I will contact you shortly.

:+1: Thanks

Hello @javierde22
Right now you can add custom dictionaries to server versions of the Docs: Adding custom dictionaries to the server version
However, your case is using desktop app. Unfortunately, it’s not possible at the moment. We have added your suggestion to internal tracksystem and we have started working on it.

To sum it up, we are working on the two tasks at the moments:
A. Add spell checker support for Aranese Occitan language.
B. Enabling the use of custom dictionaries in all versions of the editor.
I will update this thread once we have something to share.
