Dear Zotero Team,
thank you for your incredible work. I encounter what I think to ba a bug. I am using Windows ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors Community-Version 9.4.0.129 (x64 msi) with Zotero version 1.0.9. When adding bibliography it sometimes adds a “Version” followed by numbers to the document, yet these numbers do not exist in the Zotero application and the version field is also empty.
e.g.
United Nations Environment Programme. (2022). Global Peatlands Assessment: The State of the World’s Peatlands - Evidence for Action toward the Conservation, Restoration, and Sustainable Management of Peatlands (Version 272). United Nations Environment Programme. https://doi.org/10.59117/20.500.11822/41222
I encounter this issue not only with Journal articles but also with books and other literature categories. I can not reproduce the bug as it does not happen every time.

The “(Version 272)” comes from a CSL field called version. Our plugin fetches your citation data from Zotero already formatted, so this value is coming from Zotero itself.
The most likely source isn’t the visible Version field — it’s the Extra field in the item’s info panel. Zotero treats lines like version: 272 in Extra as CSL overrides. DOI-based imports sometimes write this without the user noticing.
Could you open the affected UNEP item in Zotero and check its Extra field? If you see a line like version: 272, that’s the source.
Also — are you connecting the plugin to local Zotero or using an API key?
Hi @Nurullo I checked the extra field of the UNEP item in Zotero and it is empty. Also I am connecting through an API key.

We’ve confirmed the issue with “(Version N)” being added to the bibliography in APA 7 style. Filed as a bug (internal ref — 83407). We’ll update the thread once it’s fixed.
