When opening a PDF/A file saved from OFORM, the forms are garbled

When editing a PDF/A file saved from OFORM, the forms are garbled.
a portable a.pdf (7.4 MB)

I use
desktop editors 9.1.0.167 (x64 exe)
windows 11 pro 24H2

Hello @nishigaki

Opening the attached form in Desktop Editors shows it normally for me.

Also in Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Am I missing something?

By the way, OFORM format has been deprecated several versions ago, PDF format is now used for forms.

Hello @Constantine

Sorry, I thought a new PDF file created with Desktop Editors is called OFORM.
I want to correct the report. Should I create a new post?

Corrected as follows:
I created a new PDF file with Desktop Editors, and save it as PDF/A, and reopened it with Desktop Editors, but the forms are garbled.

There is no need. Just as a clarification your comment is enough.

I have opened the same file, which is basically the same operation as reopening like you say, but it looks normally for me.

Maybe a video with exact steps that are leading to this issue could help, but for now there is no issue on my side.

Hello @Constantine

So, if you click on any field in “a portable a.pdf”, will garbled characters not appear?
Does this issue only occur in a Japanese environment?

Now I see what you meant by “editing”. Indeed, that way the rectangles do appear. May I know how it was created? In particular, which font has been applied to them (if any).

Hello @Constantine

The problem occurs when I create a new PDF, place a date field in it, save it as PDF/A, close the current tab, and open the PDF/A I just saved.
Sorry, but the steps for creating a text field and dropdown are not clear.

Hello @Constantine

I’ve attached the original PDF form.
original pdf form.pdf (7.5 MB)

Open it with Desktop Editors and save it as PDF/A. The issue occurs when opening it in the Desktop Editors.

Thank you very much for the original file. We are analyzing the issue, please await my feedback.

Thanks @Constantine

I’m waiting for the cause to be clarified.

After analysis we found the issue – PDF forms are not properly saved into PDF/A format, thus causing the visual artifacts on the fields.

This behavior has been registered as a bug.

Thanks @Constantine

I look forward to the fix.
