When multiple xlsx files are open, canceling the editing of a reference formula in one xlsx causes problems in other xlsx files

When multiple xlsx files are open, canceling the editing of a reference formula in one xlsx causes problems in other xlsx files.

  1. Create three new plain xlsx files on the local disk: a.xlsx, b.xlsx, and c.xlsx.
  2. Open all three files in a Desktop Editors.
  3. Input “=” in any cell of c.xlsx and press Enter key.
  4. Select that cell again and type F2, then Esc.
  5. Switch to the tab “b.xlsx”. “=” appears in the formula field. Input “=aa” and press Enter key.
  6. Switch to the tab “a.xlsx”. The previous “=aa” was entered there.
  7. Switch to the tab “b.xlsx”. I can no longer enter data in any cells.

It’s an annoying bug that i’m experiencing too. I made a video with the bug, I think that it is the same.

Please let me know if it’s the same bug that we’re talking about.
I hope that someone see this.
Thanks!

Thank you for the information! @gborfitz

It’s the same symptom.
At 0:20 in your video, I pressed Esc to cancel, but I realized that the same thing happens even if I complete the lookup formula.
Note that if you have other xlsx files open, the lookup formula you entered at 0:30 will be entered in the other xlsx files.

I’m also waiting for this to be resolved.

Thanks @Nikolas

I look forward to the fix.

It seems to be fixed on new release (ver. 9.2.00.100)

Thanks! @gborfitz

I’ll wait for the Desktop Editors to update.
