I run spell check and ignore some of the suggested corrections, such as honor vs honour, I save the document, close it, and reopen. The same spellcheck errors reappear. Once a suggestion is ignored why not cease marking the word as in error?

I see, DocSpace Cloud that is. The situation with appearance of ignored words after document reopening is expected. You see, those words are exactly ignored, which stores the information in editing session and does not add it to the document itself or to the editor globally.
Maybe adding a “misspelled” word to a dictionary would be a more reliable solution.
