Screen resolution - who is the master?

This might be it. Are you still using Auto scaling in Desktop Editors?

Hello
Since I faced the issue, I changed the parameter to 100%.

And it still produces the issue with scaling when changing the resolution of the screen?

No, I don’t have the issue when Auto scaling is off (otherwise, I would have been way more active in this thread :-))

Thank you. It makes sense now, considering high DPI value of your screen. Should I close the topic as solved then?

I would say it’s up to you.
As far as I know, the Auto scaling is not working, and according to me, it should… But as far as I’m concerned, i’m no longer bothered by the issue so I let you choose

Sorry, I am possibly missing the point. I have described how auto scaling works in one of my previous replies. Maybe I need to refresh the information about the issue to get back to the understanding of the problem.

I apologize if my understanding is going sideways with actual issue.

Don’t blame yourself, it might be me who does not spend a lot of time on it as I’m no longer bothered - I may miss the point.

Quick summary of how I see the issue:

  • when scaling is “Auto”, the issue happens
  • when scaling is set to 100%, everything is ok.

I don’t have time today but I’ll test it again this week-end to see where we are.

I’d be glad if you could test the things out again to sort this out.

Hello Constantine
Today, I:

  1. opened OO’s parameters
  2. switch the scaling option from 100% to Auto
  3. restarted OO
    Here is the result:

So, sorry but there is still an issue with autoscaling and here, there is no link with any external display :frowning:

And on my external screen, with auto scaling set, everything is ok:

Is it the device with high-DPI screen?

It is my laptop yes.

Thank you. In that case everything works as I described here:

DPI of your laptop is high, which sets scaling of the editor to a high % value when Auto option is used, but on the external screen, where I could assume DPI is low, it calculates lower %, thus the interface is scaled normally.

Does it make sense?

Hello
From a technical standpoint, it seems to make sens.
From an end-user standpoint, what I see is a weird behavior that I don’t get with any other app.
As setting the parameter to 100% make the use of OO ok, I’m not feeling to much concerned about the issue anymore.
However, I think that for new users, facing this issue could tarnish the image of OO.
So it is up to you
Anyway, thanks again for the solution.

Do this apps have scaling options? Basically, if they don’t, then they do not scale the UI at all, so changing resolution increasing UI elements off of the fixed sizes of UI elements, but with scaling DPI is also taken into consideration. That describes why after changing the resolution to a higher value with scaling set to Auto Desktop Editor remained increased UI.

Directly answering the question in the topic name – scaling depends both on the resolution and DPI of the screen.
