Documents in gvfs drive (OneDrive) won't open in OnlyOffice

OS version: Debian 13 (Trixie)
App version: 9.0.4.50 (deb)
Downloaded from: ONLYOFFICE website (onlyoffice-desktopeditors_amd64.deb)
Additional information:

Does OnlyOffice support opening documents that are located on gvfs mounted drives? I’ve still yet to be able to answer this question from searching the internet.

The problem
I have a remote account set up in the GNOME Settings app for OneDrive.

From the file explorer (Nautilus), when I open a file that exists on my local drive, everything works as expected - that is - OnlyOffice is launched and opens the file.

Still in Nautilus, when opening a file that lays on OneDrive, OnlyOffice is launched, and the Home screen is shown, and the file is not opened.

gvfs-fuse?
I don’t know if gvfsd-fuse would be needed for this. gvfsd-fuse seems to not be starting up properly on my computer. I have to manually start it, although that doesn’t solve the problem either.

What I’ve tried:

  • I’ve updated to the latest version.
  • I’ve searched online, trying to find others who have had similar issues, but I’ve found few, and those doesn’t solve it.
  • I’ve tried to get a better understanding of what gvfs and GIO is. I understand now that gvfs is separate from the filesystem, and that special dependencies and code is required to be added to OnlyOffice for it to be able read from GIO.

Hey @ShortGrass,

Thanks for reporting the issue with ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors not opening OneDrive files via GVFS.

We’ll look into it! Could you share a short video showing the issue (local file vs. OneDrive file in Nautilus)?
Upload it to a file storage service like ONLYOFFICE DocSpace (free), kDrive, or Dropbox and share the link.

@ShortGrass,

Sorry for the long wait on this, and thanks again for the video; it really helped clarify the behavior.

To get a better sense of whether this is tied to the version or something specific in your setup, could you test with the latest release (v9.1.0) and see if the problem persists? You can grab it from the official site: Download ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors.

If it still happens, we’ll escalate it further. Let us know how it goes!
