Desktop-editors: Character styles are not supported

Onlyoffice writer does not support character styles at all and that’s a quite big limitation for productivity. When *.docx files, written with other office program suites (word, libreoffice, wps office) are open in OnlyOffice, such styles are imported , but not recognized as such (character styles) and applying them to selection of text result in formatting the whole paragraph, not the selected text.

Can you provide more information about “character styles”? For instance, a link to the documentation that describes them as a feature.

Hi, character styles are - as the same word suggests - styles that appiy to a specific portion of text (opposite to paragraph styles which apply to a whole paragraph). They are a common feature in all office suites word processoes (MS word, WPS word, libreoffice writer, etc.). So far it is not possible to CREATE them within onlyoffice. It is possible just to “import” them from a .docx file created with the above mentioned office suites.

Good afternoon, I’m a long-time user of LibreOffice (since StarOffice actually) and am learning OnlyOffice. Today I was trying to define a new style, “definition”, to be applied only to a sequence of selected characters and not an entire paragraph (in my example, the characters selected would be bolded, italicized and the colour changed).
