Bug on Huawei MatePad 11.5

Hello everyone,

I would like to report two issues I am experiencing with ONLYOFFICE Documents on my Huawei MatePad 11.5 (2025).

Device information:

  • Device: Huawei MatePad 11.5 (2025)

  • OS: HarmonyOS (latest available version on my device)

  • Keyboard: Official Huawei physical keyboard (keyboard case)

  • ONLYOFFICE Documents: latest version available

Issue 1: Accented characters are not recognized inside documents

I write primarily in Spanish, so I need to use accented characters such as á, é, í, ó and ú.

Inside a document, the editor does not recognize these characters when typing with the official Huawei physical keyboard. However, I noticed something interesting: accented characters work correctly when naming a file, but they stop working once I start editing the document itself.

This suggests that the keyboard and operating system are handling accented characters correctly, but there may be an issue specifically within the document editor.

Issue 2: Noticeable input lag while typing

When typing in a document, there is a visible delay between pressing a key and seeing the character appear on screen. The delay is small but constant and becomes uncomfortable during long writing sessions.

The tablet hardware should be more than capable of handling a word processor, and other office suites run smoothly on the same device.

Troubleshooting already performed

To rule out installation-related issues, I tested:

  • The version installed from Huawei AppGallery.

  • The APK downloaded directly from the ONLYOFFICE website.

  • The Google Play version installed through GBox.

All versions exhibit the same behavior.

For comparison, WPS Office works correctly on the same device and with the same keyboard:

  • No input lag.

  • Accented characters work normally.

Thank you very much for your detailed report.

Regarding accented characters with the physical keyboard: this is a known issue in the current version of ONLYOFFICE Documents. Your case has been added to the existing bug report, and our developers are already working on a fix. As soon as a version with the correction is released, we will notify you here in this thread.

Regarding the input lag issue, we need a bit more information to investigate it properly. Could you please record a short video where:

  • you open a document in ONLYOFFICE Documents and type a few sentences using the Huawei physical keyboard, so that the delay between keypress and character appearance is clearly visible;

  • if possible, type the same text in another app (for example, WPS Office or a notes app) on the same device and keyboard, so the difference in responsiveness can be observed.

You can attach the video directly to your forum post or upload it to a cloud service and share the link here.

Could you also clarify whether the input lag appears only when using the physical Huawei keyboard, or if you notice the same delay when typing with the on-screen (virtual) keyboard in ONLYOFFICE Documents?

After further testing, I noticed that a similar typing delay also occurs in Collabora Office when using the Huawei physical keyboard. Because of that, I am not sure the input lag is specific to ONLYOFFICE Documents.

For now, I would prefer to focus on the accented character issue, which appears to be a reproducible bug specific to ONLYOFFICE. I will keep following this thread and look forward to testing the fix once it becomes available.
